The Madison County Housing Authority (MCHA) embarked on an effort to rebuild dilapidated housing developments with modern complexes. Northgate Homes was a 99-unit barracks-style development that was demolished to provide new public housing options in Collinsville. MCHA selected Oates Associates to provide site design services for the redevelopment of the site into a new affordable housing complex known as Woodland Park Apartments.
Woodland Park Apartments encompasses 13 buildings on an 11-acre site. There are 80 one- and four-bedroom apartments, 8 of which are ADA accessible. In addition to housing, the development accommodates an administrative facility for MCHA and commercial office space.
Oates’ scope of work included survey services; plans for erosion, utilities, grading, drainage, and parking; and the design of curb ramps, sidewalks and road profiles.
