Oates Associates inventoried and mapped the existing stormwater infrastructure on the campus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville to document the location and size of existing drainage features and to identify inflow and outfall locations of existing watershed basins.

The scope of services included walking the campus and documenting stormwater structures including inlets/manholes, end sections, and non-vegetated ditches.  The stormwater system was documented with a hand-held GPS data collector and coded to reflect the nature of the structure.  This information was used to create a GIS database inventory of the stormwater infrastructure.  The data collected was also presented with an AutoCAD drawing and a Microsoft Access database.  This inventory provides a current “snapshot” of the existing drainage facilities.

In addition to cataloging the storm sewer systems on campus, several exhibits were prepared to aid in the preparation of the University’s MS4 (Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems) permit.
