St. Louis Children’s Specialty Care Center

To better serve St. Louis County residents, St. Louis Children’s Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine opened an off-site pediatric ambulatory center in Town & Country, Missouri.  The three-story, 141,000 square foot center is a full-service facility that houses clinic space for pediatric specialists, operating rooms, and a laboratory, among other areas.

Oates Associates designed structural steel connections, including shear, vertical bracing, drag, moment, beam-to-embed plate, and hollow structural section beam end connections. The connection design included unique solutions for complex challenges, including torsion, loading, continuity and member compatibility.  Brace connections were designed for forces up to 700,000 pounds.
