IL-159 Feasibility Study

Oates Associates conducted a study which investigated the potential for either improving or supplementing IL-159 between two five-lane segments. Within the nine square mile study area, six alternate routes were evaluated to supplement the existing Route 159. Study goals and objectives included improving traffic flow, supporting the City’s comprehensive plan and economic development, and preserving historical, cultural and environmental resources.

The study examined current and future traffic demands, land use and social, economic and environmental impacts for the identified alternates. Construction cost estimates were also prepared for each of the alternates.

Significant public involvement activities were required, including several public meetings and presentations to local interest groups, preparation of press releases and presentations to the City Council.
