Congratulations to Cheryl Vancil, who recently earned the designation of Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM) and is among the growing number of professionals to be certified by the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS), which advocates for, educates, and connects leaders in the design and building industry.

Cheryl, who has been with Oates Associates for 13 years, oversees the marketing efforts and has grown in responsibility while with the firm. She has been engaged with the St. Louis chapter of SMPS since 2006 and is currently serving on the board as the Education Director. Realizing the value in just preparing for the exam and the significance of the designation led Cheryl to pursue this accomplishment.

The CPSM designation is an impressive achievement within the marketing field and lends professional credibility within Oates Associates and externally. With a 60% passing rate, the CPSM exam ranks equally among highly recognized accreditations. The process validates the individual’s mastery of and ability to apply critical business development knowledge in an industry that values certification.

The Society for Marketing Professional Services was created in 1973 by a small group of firm leaders who recognized the need to sharpen skills, pool resources, and work together to create business opportunities. Today the association supports 6,000+ members as they tackle the day-to-day complexities of marketing and developing business for architectural, engineering, construction, and related specialty services firms in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
