RAMSEY LAKE DAM SPILLWAY AND FORD REHABILITATION
CONSTRUCTION COST: $750,000
COMPLETION DATE: APRIL 2003
CLIENT: IL CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT BOARD / IL DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES

Oates was hired to design the rehabilitation of the spillway and ford for this 1,300-acre lake in Ramsey Lake State Park. The 50-year old dam, which did not have a dam safety permit, required substantial modifications to the spillway, dewatering tower and stilling basin. Hydraulic analysis required included lake routings, drawdown time, energy dissipation, and wave run-up analysis. Oates staff also provided construction-engineering services.
