September 2009 - Bruce Schopp Elected to New Position

Oates Associates is pleased to announce that Bruce Schopp, Principal at Oates Associates was installed as President for the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers (ISPE).

Mr. Schopp has been with Oates Associates for 24 years. He directs all of Oates’ major highway and bridge projects. He is currently managing structural design work for the US 67 Jerseyville ByPass project, which involves management of a team of three other consultants designing 5.5 miles of new freeway with 14 bridge structures. He has been active in ISPE for several years, previously holding officer and committee chair positions including president of the St. Clair Chapter of ISPE. In addition to his involvement with ISPE, Mr. Schopp is active in the American Council of Engineering Companies - Illinois and in various community organizations including his church, St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Freeburg, IL.

The Illinois Society of Professional Engineers represents over 2,500 engineers and has served their needs for over 120 years. Several employees at Oates are active in the organization, with many serving on various committees.
