The Alton campus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is home to the School of Dental Medicine. Established in 1972, the school offers students a nationally recognized dental education. The campus was originally home to Alton Seminary, which was founded in 1827. Many historic buildings still reside on the Alton campus.

Oates Associates provided project management and/or architectural services for various window replacement projects on the Historic Alton campus. The scope of work varied slightly from building to building, but generally included coordinating with the abatement of hazardous materials, replacing windows (wood and steel) and glass with historic replica windows, replacing black out shades and window blinds, and using energy efficient glazing. Coordination and approval from the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency was required.
