Experience
Mr. Oates is Chairman of the Board of Oates Associates. Previously, he served as President of Oates Associates for twenty years, directing all operations of the firm. Mr. Oates maintains principal involvement in major transportation projects, assisting project managers and reviewing quality assurance measures.
Mr. Oates is currently providing principal oversight and quality assurance for the US-67 Jerseyville ByPass design. This project involves management of a team of three other consultants designing 4 miles of new freeway, two interchanges and six road or railroad grade separations.
He has served in leadership roles in a number of business and community organizations. Most recently he was a national Vice-Chairman of the American Council of Engineering Companies and he currently serves as the Council’s national Transportation Committee Chair.
